Dhaka Medical College won the Medical Olympiad
Dhaka Medical College became the champion in Bangladesh Medical Olympiad in the hard-fought battle of stage performance. Ibrahim Khalil, a fifth year student of Dhaka Medical College, led the champion team. Apart from this, the first runner-up was Rajshahi Medical College and the second runner-up was Green Life Medical College.
Md. Muhtasim Rahman Mahir led the Rajshahi Medical College and Simanta Modak led for Green Life Medical College in the Olympiad organized to increase the intellectual-thinking and open-mindedness of the students of the medical colleges.
The trophies and medals were handed over to the winners on Saturday (January 24) jointly organized by Planetary Health Academia (PHA) and Platform of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, Dhaka..
In addition to the trophy, the winning team will be awarded plane tickets to the Medical Olympiad in Indonesia in 2023. The runner-up team will also get a ticket to the Olympics in India or Nepal. Another attraction of the Bangladesh Medical Olympiad will be the future career workshop for the students of the medical college.
Earlier in the 16-team semi-finals, which started at 8 am, eight teams qualified for the final round. Dhaka Medical College was the first in the semi-final, and Ibrahim Khalil led it. Then STMC secured the second place and the team was led by Turjoy. Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College under the leadership of Gausul Azam came third. Besides, Green Life Medical College, Prime Medical College, second batch of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, Rajshahi Medical College and Cox's Bazar Medical College have reached the final stage.
The organization is supported by the Directorate of Health Education, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and National Heart Foundation. Besides, Unimed and Unihealth Pharmaceuticals are scientific partners of this Olympiad.
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Central Florida Dr BM Atikuzzaman is serving as the convener of the Medical Olympiad. In addition, Dr.Md. Mohib Nirob and PHA’s Dr. Sharmin Abbasi is serving as a co-convener of the platform. .
In addition, PHA chairman Dr. Tasbirul Islam, Dr. Chowdhury H. Ahsan, Dr. Shakeel Farid, Dr. Nasser Khan, Omar Sharif are regularly working for Bangladesh Medical Olympiad.
